The speed control methods of electric locomotives are divided into resistance speed control, chopping speed control and frequency conversion speed control.

1、Resistance speed regulation is a gear speed regulation, similar to a car's manual transmission. The speed is controlled by changing the resistance value. The DC motor works, and the commutation and speed regulation use copper contact points. It has a long life and is easy to burn out. Suitable for mines or tunnels that do not contain gas.

2、Chopper speed regulation is a stepless speed regulation, similar to the automatic transmission of a car, with large starting torque and stable operation, which effectively avoids the undesirable phenomena caused by shocks when the locomotive starts and speeds. There are explosion-proof type and common type, which can be applied to different mine environments.
 
3、The frequency conversion speed regulation adopts frequency conversion control technology, which controls the inverter circuit to convert direct current into alternating current, and controls the alternating current frequency conversion motor. The whole machine has no contacts, which greatly extends the service life.
